Creating a Base APQP Project with Your Total Quality System 9000 Family of Products
In this tutorial you will learn to create the process flow chart, control plan, fmea, and operator work instructions when creating a new APQP project with your Total Quality System 9000 or Total Advanced Quality 9000 product. These four documents together will be considered a base APQP project. You will also find information on how the APQP libraries are used for both work-in-progress and approved APQP projects. For the control plan, fmea, and operator check sheets we will also provide the options that you have for controlling the revision histories. A master APQP project may be created in order to use as a template to be copied to a new project number if you have similar products and wish to retain a complete project for each part number. When copying an APQP project all the information in the control plan, fmea, work instructions, and process flow are copied to your new project number. We suggest when creating a master template that you begin with the most complicated process for that family of parts and leave the sample size, frequency, and gage numbers blank in your template. You may then delete any process steps and fill in the sample size, frequency, and gage numbers for your new project that meets that part numbers requirements.
